Why is it so small? I think it's a missed opportunity, it would have been great if it was much bigger, I mean it could have been used as a real foosball table, that would have been really cool.
No idea, but as you say, a missed opportunity I think the size they've released the set at is unplayable and it's a shame because I think it was potentially one of the best sets/ideas in terms of playability, it reminded me of the line of board games they released a few years ago, imagine if they had made them tiny....
Here is an article about it: https://brick.is/blog/post/111/lego-reveals-they-came-close-to-cancelling-21337-table-football-set-due-to-problematic-model-scale

Oh I see, interesting, it makes me wonder if using technic parts would have given the board some more robustness, I don't know if they tested that too, because with normal parts it makes sense that it would break when making sudden movements.
But actually this surprises me even more, I mean wasn't playability supposed to be an important factor in the LEGO Ideas review? It's a bit contradictory that if this set didn't comply with that, they still released it 🤷
Edit. I've just seen what the original idea was, quite a change.
I get the feeling that a lot of the pieces could be crossed by the typical technic axles, I'm not sure if the designer took that into account, if even with the use of axles it was ruined then it was a big problem.

Ohhh the board games I almost didn't remember them! there were some pretty cool ones
That makes sense, but then I don't know how good an idea it was to release the set, do you think? in general I've seen a lot of dissatisfaction. I think the best thing about the set is all the minifigures and hairs that come with it haha

If I remember correctly this was all through a LEGO Ideas challenge, so somehow the team was committed, they were obliged to release a set.

Basically, they tried several scales and while playing with the game, but the set just got ruined (broken).

Ah I had no idea about that 🤐
as it said in the article, they had already announced it, they made the deal with the original designer, so the team couldn't take everything back.
Great, there's the confirmation
