You are right, I remember that the first one they did it with was the Lamborghini Sián, even the Bugatti Chiron had stickers, since they introduced it I think it is something indispensable, hopefully one day we will have it even in the cheap sets.

In fact it is a matter of time, already in some cheaper Speed Champions sets this is happening, the lights and grill of the Mercedes AMG Project One (https://brickrr.com/d/310-lego-speed-champions-2022/14) are painted, also happens with the Aston Martin DB5 (https://brickrr.com/d/310-lego-speed-champions-2022/19).

I didn't know that it was already happening on such cheap models that usually used stickers, the Aston Martin print is quite large and divided into two pieces, not bad!

Yeah it's finally happening, for the headlights or those big stickers (like the front grill) it's really nice, before with the stickers if you got them crooked the final result looked horrible.
